In addition to the school library, room 9 has 2 classroom libraries for the students to select and/or check-out books.  The Accelerated Reader (AR) Library contains books that are individually leveled.  Your child has taken a computerized test and given a reading-range upon which to select books that are at their optimum level for increasing reading fluency and comprehension.  The reading-range report for your child was sent home the 2nd week of school.  if you would like to know what your child's reading-range is at any time, please make a request through e-mail, phone, or note and I will be happy to print the information for you.

At the end of each quarter, I will include a report of all AR books and scores that your child has read to date (this will be sent home in the report card envelope).  The AR goal for the 1st quarter is 20 points.  Your child has opportunities to read AR books in the classroom and check-out my AR books to read at home. The Franklin School Library does not allow students to take home AR books checked out from the Franklin School Library!

All of my books are labeled "Mrs. Wood".  Should you see one laying around your house for an extended length of time, please remind your child to return it to room 9.  THANK YOU!

Here is a picture of our classroom library which contains AR books for home check-out.  I have purchased most of these books myself, some were bought with a grant I wrote titled, "Reading To Go," and others were donated by colleagues.

Here is a picture of our classroom library (non-AR books).  I have a huge collection of Goosebumps, Beverly Cleary, Laura Ingalls, and American Girl, just to name a few.  The students love checking out these books for pure enjoyment!
